For most students, essays are their number one issue. After they have told me their concerns, I like to read over the paper myself and any correct grammar mistakes I find along the way. I also sometimes write in comments in the margin to refer back to. If I have an issue or am confused about a certain session, I stop and ask the student. I also often read the sentence(s) aloud so the student can hear the what is wrong. If he or she still does not see an issue, I explain my concerns and we work together until we are both happy. After I’m done reading, I express any more concerns I have and once again work with the student until we are both happy. I also help with work cited pages. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University. Throughout my four years of attending, I have had a lot of experience teaching through my practicum classes and through student teaching. I have taught students from grades K-5 and have taught small groups and large groups.
I am one who believes that children learn in different ways, and through different strategies, a teacher can help students find their best way to learn. Students who struggle with learning may just be not interested in what is being taught. I like to find out what the students are interested in and try to incorporate that into the subject area so they can be enthusiastic in the subject and be more wiling to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

My second career choice was education, but I went with accounting instead. I have always found good luck with explaining how to do something by using examples. As I continue further in my career, this comes easier and easier. Problem solving techniques are an important tool to teach as these skills help children methodically figure answers out.
My volunteering began in 1993 when I was an officer at the Indiana University Bloomington chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary accounting society. I still remember going to the Boys and Girls Club to tutor each week. When I got the opportunity to work with the Junior Achievement organization while working in Butler, I jumped for joy. I have always loved to learn new things, and as a teenager wanted to be a teacher. I have a B.S. in Dietetics with a chemistry minor, as well as an M.B.A. My role as a dietitian requires the ability to teach all ages groups, with diverse backgrounds and educational levels. After completion of my MBA, I moved into a senior leadership role. In this position, I facilitated strategic planning sessions and tutored staff who were completing BS or MS degrees in English, sciences, quality, writing, and business classes.
In groups, I like to have many examples and participation from the audience.
