A Little Bit About Me...

Served a 2-year french-speaking mission and am studying it at BYU. Have taken advances grammar classes and literature classes. I received the best grade in my grammar class. It is true that I took a couple years of high-school french but I mainly taught it to myself during my mission. I did serve with native companions so I spoke primarily French for months at a time. Also have done some French translating work.

Throughout my undergraduate studies at BYU, I taught and tutored in Spanish for up 24 hours each week. I supervised 5 districts of students, 10 teachers and up to 65 students at one time, while still teaching in the classroom. Even students with great willpower do not learn very effectively when they are not interested in the material. I also teach with analogies and comparisons. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that repetition is one key that helps students grasp difficult concepts. I start by helping the student understand what the question is asking. Then I will do a problem step by step, showing the student what I am doing. Next, I will have the student do the same problem, but recreate the steps that I had shown them, guiding them along the way. After this type of practice, we will move on to similar problems, using the same steps that we previously used. I have found that this system helps me learn the information and retain it. Starting from high school I have always been passionate about young children learning. As a young child I was fortunate enough to have people in my life care about my education and help me succeed.
