While gaining BA in biology from a nationally ranking liberal arts college, I further expanded my knowledge by receiving a SURF/SILO Grant to conduct independent breast cancer research, working for a brain tumor research laboratory, and pursuing drug development as an independent contractor for a pharmaceutical company. As a college student, I also acted as a teaching assistant for zoology and comparative vertebrate anatomy laboratories for three years. An undeclared minor in religion, which ingrained excellent writing and critical thinking skills, enhances my extensive experience in math and science. Both positions required hands on instruction in the basics of rhetorical theory as well as extensive research and writing. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduation I decided never to stop studying Law, the Brazilian legal system, different legal systems around the world and international law, both public and private. I became a specialist in tax law, a master in jurisprudence and a PhD in international law. Becoming a professor was only natural and my teasing career began in 1992 or 1993. As a child I learned to speak English and French as well as Portuguese. After that I learned other foreign languages. I am now living in the US and would like to teach again.

There are many ways for children to learn, and the most effective method that I have used is to establish a basic foundation and then build upon that. My five year old son, Paul, is already reading and writing becuase I have worked patiently with him for the last few years. Simple rewards like a 'high five' may seem silly, but any type of positive reinforcement helps to keep attention focused on the work at hand, and makes children enjoy what they are doing. In addition to my college work, I also taught 9th-11th graders at a charter school for three semesters.
