I have worked as Research Statistician, Mathematician, Physicist, and Aeronautical Engineer in various institutions which include Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), MD Anderson Cancer Center and Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) at Health Science Center, Houston. During my Doctoral candidate years, I worked as both a engineering lecturer and laboratory instructor for 3 different engineering fields. The fields were circuit design, applied mathematics and practical laboratory equipment usage. I also gave lectures in Applied Optics (physics) for Seniors at Clarkson University during my last Doctoral year (1984-85) at campus.
Informal for large groups as I wanted the students to see me as like them, but with enough capability to inspire them to listen. I learned early on you cannot make anybody learn anything. You must inspire them to want to learn. At the 1-on-1 setting (tutoring level), I work at a very detailed level with the particular student I have with me at the time. Each one is sufficiently different to warrant different teaching approaches to maximum effect and retention.
