A Little Bit About Me...

As a high school teacher, I facilitated the instruction of approximately 100 students in Chemistry in accordance with Massachusetts Learning Standards. Developed and implemented course curriculum for the Forensic Science course, including labs featuring gun shot residue testing, urinalysis, and DNA electrophoresis . Supervised the after-school chemistry tutoring program for all high school students. Additionally, I served as a volunteer ESL tutor for one year.
I will be upfront, I was known as a firm, but fair, teacher. I see science as a field primarily learned through doing, and I enjoy performing science demonstrations with my students to help illustrate new concepts. I worked for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources for 14 years as an Endangered Species Research Scientist. I have extensive experience in science, math, technical writing, computer programming, and database management. For the last 18 months I have been laid off and enjoying parenting my 2 children who are 11 and 7.
