I took a few classes on teaching at a small community college while I was still in high school. I still am considering becoming a teacher after going back to school to complete my major in accounting. I've always been a stronger believer in one-on-one teaching working more proficiently then being taught in a classroom. I am very patient and hard-working. I had an internship at an under-priviledged daycare for local children in Maryland and it was one of the most rewarding things I have ever accomplished. As a teacher I believe that students learn best by doing, so I plan my lessons to engage students with meaningful activities that are mastered with hands on activity rather than teacher lead discussion.
I have worked in a wide range of business and educational settings and have worked with students from grade school to adult. When I earned my BS in English, with a thirty credit business minor, I already had fifteen years experience working in a family run retail store. I have since worked a range of jobs including teaching business, computer and English classes. I also worked as a computer systems installer, service manager and office manager. I bring to my teaching a wide range of experience combined with a strong understanding of my subject areas.
