A Little Bit About Me...

I was a parent volunteer in my children's elementary school for 4 to 5 years. I was a substitute teacher in grades 1 thru 4. I tutuored my two children for two years. I taught summer school to first and second graders, was a teacher's assistant, and worked as a one-on-one tutor in a reading program in the elementary school. I have also mentored students and adults in academic subjects as well as elementary subjects. As a vocational expert/counselor I have taught, trained,and tested (interest, IQ, aptitude etc) both clients and employees. I worked with average intelligence adolescents and adults. I also assisted the special education teacher at Hanover Learning Center (approximately 7 years)working with mild and moderately impaired adolescents in the classroom. In the vocational and job placement responsibilities, I coordinated, and assisted/taught client to help them obtain their GED.
Naturally I would set goals and objectives (Independent Educational Plan). Depending if the individual's assets or deficits (weaknesses) would determine my teaching style. Since my years as an undergraduate student, one of my passions has always been giving back to the community through tutoring and mentoring.
