My comments on tutoring World History : I received a 7 in Higher Level History in my International Baccalaureate exams, in addition to a 790 on AP World History. Throughout my undergraduate career I specialized in the history of the Middle East and South Asia, with an emphasis on the 20th century.
As a student, I understand the importance of a good teacher. I always try and help the student find and correct their own mistakes, rather than merely giving them the corrections. I have found that the listening is one of the most important tools that a tutor has at their disposal: in my experience, the student knows where their weaknesses and difficulties lie, even if they are unable to articulate the problem areas. Therefore, as a tutor, I always try and listen carefully to the student and adapt the lesson to each students respective needs.
During the last two years of my undergraduate career I worked as an Arabic and Economics tutor in the Academic Resource Center at Tufts University. With respect to Arabic, I worked with Beginner and Intermediate level students - extensively using Al-Kitaab.
