I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory. That to me is not only developing the ability to draw on a built up knowledge base, but also broadens ones ability to convey what has been learned.
I have always wanted to teach. When I was a child I would round up the kids in my neighborhood and make them do lessons that I created. I do remember they did not like that. I went to college and earned a BS in Biology always knowing that I would eventually teach the sciences. I was an excellent student and have always found pride in myself on my ability to communi ... read more

As a re-founding member and President of the Syracuse University chapter of the National Society of Pershing Rifles (www.pershingriflessociety.org) I was responsible for the planning and instruction of between 12 and 20 students in the areas of Leadership, Project Management, Exhibition Drill and Wilderness Survival. Throughout my engineering curriculum I was very often tasked with assisted in the instruction of others in small group sessions as well as larger group project settings. I also received tutoring which provides a unique perspective on how adaptability is important.
In my experience with teaching, I find that the best way to connect and convey the information is to provide aural, visual and experiential exposure to the material. Everyone does not learn at the same pace or through the same exposure to material. It is also important to be perceptive to the possibility of s ... read more

The most important qualities of outstanding educators are experience, creativity, and patience. Each quality needs to be developed or tested by time in order to increase in its overall effectiveness. Teachers who can consistently employ all three qualities throughout their careers will be successful educators. It will take a lot of effort and hard work as an educator to successfully integrate the qualities of experience, creativity, and patience into their teaching styles. The effort and hard work will result in the development and establishment of those important qualities within teachers. In turn, the qualities will help those outstanding teachers to continue working hard with unquestionable effort.
Through the course load of my college career my studies also incorporated normal life span development, personality development, abnormal development, prevention, group behavior, ... read more

I possess a BA degree in Chemistry in addition to minors in Physics and Math. In turn, my education has a provided me an integrated understanding of the physical sciences. During my undergraduate years, I functioned as a chemistry tutor and as a result of my experiences, I have been able to effectively educate these principles to others. I have also volunteered and tutored elementary school-aged children in basic science for six years. As a scientific information researcher, for the past six years, I have enhanced research, writing, and oral communication skills.
I love to learn and the process involved when digesting new information. Also, I love to assist in transforming a difficult concepts to simpliefied terms for better processing. I believe one of the hardest obstacles to learning is doing so in a smokestack. We do not live in isolation and learning shouldn't be conducted in ... read more

I have been a very patient teacher. Coming from a family of teachers and professors, I understand that teaching is an art and not just a process of talking to people. A mind when open can grasp and absorb everything it is exposed to and I strongly believe that a big part of a teacher's job is to open their students mind toward what needs to be learned. Patience is key but discipline and motivation are the pillars of learning. This is my teaching philosophy and style and I strive hard to and am almost always successful in implementing it.
