I am a fan of Howard Gardner- I believe each student has his/her own learning style. Knowing these learning styles can help both teacher and student accomplish academic success. I also believe in a gradual release of responsibility on the student's part. Teaching vocabulary before the actual lesson can help the student understand more completely.
I have recently acquired a Master of Education degree in Education-a lifelong dream. I have taught in both private and public schools in grades PreK-6. I have just completed a Master's Program in the Arts of Teaching at Sacred Heart University. I completed 10 weeks of student teaching where I took on all the responsibilities of a full time 7th grade English teacher. I began working in the field of education in 2003 during a fieldwork experience in a kindergarten classroom at P.S. 20 on the Lower East Side of New York City. I then student taught children in 9th and 12th grades in English at Burncoat High School in Worcester,MA for my MA license in 2005.
