My philosophy on teaching is not centered just on the concept at hand, but rather on the goal of helping the student develop the skills to expand on that concept and apply them to other problems. When I tutored other college students at the UW, I helped my students explore topics from every possible angle we could think of so that the student can fully develop a solid grasp of that topic, and lay down the foundations needed to be able to apply that learning and understanding to other situations and problems. A Little Bit About Me...

What strikes me most as I look back at my education is how much of an impact a teacher can have when they make their subject relevant to their students. When I am teaching I try to find out what motivates each student as a person, in addition to what is motivating them to take the class. My goal is to find a way to present the material in such a way that the experience of learning is a journey of meaningful discovery that corresponds to the course content.
