My comments on tutoring GMAT : I tutor the math portions of the test - the quantitative section and integrated reasoning. We review necessary math skills, and strengthen fundamentals so you are equipped for the data sufficiency questions, and I give you the tools needed to quickly arrive at answers without the calculator. I teach a way to read the word problems to correctly set up the question being asked. We work on timing as well, making sure you are solving only enough of the problem to answer the question. Results don't lie. Please take a look at the reviews left for me here -- https://www.wyzant.com/Tutors/mathzap -- to see if I would be a good fit for you. You can message me here or there to confirm that is really me. I'd love to hear from you!

I cover elementary school through high school level math, including homeschooling assistance, and SAT/ACT math test preparation, some college level math, as well as other standardized math tests. Including private school entrance exams. I tutor high school and introductory college chemistry, as well as the science sections of many standardized tests, including Praxis, TEAS, ASVAB. I hold a Ph.D. in Chemistry, minored in math in college, even tutored math while in high school. I've tutored 100s of students of all abilities and that length and breadth of experience helps me help you.
My goal is to connect with the student at THEIR level. We start by going over the basics of problem solving and work from there to foster independent thinking. I use varied approaches wh ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught a computer "cap-stone" class to graduating seniors part-time at the Katherine Gibbs school for 1 semester. There were approximately 14 Seniors in the class and we utilized all of the Office programs from the creation of letterheads to the writing of business correspondence to mythical persons about various subjects. Subsequently I tutored high school seniors for the Princeton Review, an SAT prep business, for about a year and a half. This experience included working with many types of students and was a perfect venue to utilize my extensive consulting experience. As a turnaround management consultant for over 25 years, I was continually "teaching" people to implement the changes required to succeed.
My teaching style is a combination of serious, in-depth theory and practical examples to demonstrate such theories, all with a hint of humor, followed by significant pra ... read more

After Hartwick and prior to entering Georgetown, I worked for an administrative division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in several capacities, each of which required writing statements about complex policies and outstanding issues, many of which statements were distributed to to the Governor's and Speaker's offices, as well as published in The Boston Globe and Boston Herald. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a young Wall Street retiree with degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science and Finance. I have tutored students in Mathematics since my days on the Math Team at Stuyvesant High School. I was a high school math teacher for a brief time; more recently, I taught Probability and Statistics at Stony Brook University, where I was awarded the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
The motto of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society is "Love of learning is the guide of life". I live my own life by this ideal, and I try my best to instill a love of learning in my students. Too many students believe, indeed have been taught, that math is just a series of formulas and recipes to be learned and memorized. Understanding concepts doesn’t seem to be necessary or even desirable. No wonder students “hate” math! I believe that understanding important concepts is essential to learning math ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I personally can say that I have learned the most & can recall the most from those teachers that I consider my favorites. I believe it is because they knew how to inspire and motivate me to achieve what I thought I couldn’t or didn’t want to do. Those early experience is the inspiration behind the way I teach/tutor and write. I once heard it stated that ‘no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care’. I truly believe that you have to have a genuine interest in the individuals you are trying to inspire in order to make learning a possibility, especially in young children & adolescents. I also believe that in order to make a difference & be a positive influence; you really have to enjoy & have a passion for what you do
