My second career choice was education, but I went with accounting instead. I have always found good luck with explaining how to do something by using examples. As I continue further in my career, this comes easier and easier. Problem solving techniques are an important tool to teach as these skills help children methodically figure answers out.
My volunteering began in 1993 when I was an officer at the Indiana University Bloomington chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary accounting society. I still remember going to the Boys and Girls Club to tutor each week. When I got the opportunity to work with the Junior Achievement organization while working in Butler, I jumped for joy. For 8 years I was a volunteer teacher for all three schools (elementary, middle, and high).
