Education is the central focus of my everyday life. I have obtained a BS in Management-Health Care/HR and 5 Associate degrees in Business Administration, Administrative Office Technology, Medical Office Technology, Legal Secretary, and College Transfer. I have been homeschooling my son since 2006 and mentoring students through a local church for just as long. In addition, I tutored in 1990-1991 and 1994-1997 while in college to earn extra money. When I approach a student I've never worked with, my first priority is to make them feel comfortable by letting them see that I am a very nice, friendly, and compassionate person that they might like to have as a friend. Next I try to get them to tell me about themselves in some way (what they've been working on, their favorite subjects) to try to encourage them to speak freely with me about what they're thinking. My teaching style is a mixture of direct instruction and discovery based learning whose components depend on the student(s) at hand.
