A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a teacher's assistant for several years in public schools in Illinois, assisting in K-5 classrooms. I worked at Sylvan Learning Center for 2 years, teaching beginning reading and elementary reading. As I gained experience, I began tutoring students in the school district where I worked. After several years, I became a fifth grade teacher in a private school where I taught for 5 years. In this position, I worked with students on writing skills, and prepared students for our annual math olympics, science fair, and spelling competitions. I tutored individual 4th and 5th graders after school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have my BS in Elementary Education with minors in Science and Social Studies. I completed my student teaching requirements in inner city Milwaukee. I then was hired right out of college to teach 5th grade in Arizona which I did for two years. I then transferred to third grade and began my masters program in reading. I have an anticipated graduation in May of 2010. I hvae tutored students all three years in various subjects.
I do enjoy working with students and seeing them strive to excellence. I am patient and will work with students to help scaffold them to higher learning. I believe that there are several different ways to teach students and knowing which way will help benefit your child. I will use thier prior knowledge to help them understand concepts that prove difficult to them.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Indiana University and a current law student at the Ave Maria School of Law, I was and still very much am driven by a desire to learn and share that knowledge with those around me. I earned a BA in Political Science and a Minor in International Studies with a concentration in Human Rights. These two degrees have helped me gain an understanding of how the world of politics works, and its global impact. Because of my major, I have acquired a great deal of experience in writing essays and preparing presentations. My teaching style approaches the learner with patience and creativity. As an art and writing student, I realize that many kids learn differently, and I try to approach each situation as a unique situation. As a writing consultant what I loved hearing about was when students became more confident and improved to the point of independence.
