After receiving the Ph.D. from Notre Dame in 1985, I taught at Saint Mary’s College, Purdue University North Central, and Notre Dame, and currently am teaching selected courses – just one each term – for Trine University. I have taught a variety of courses in Sociology, Criminology, Deviant Behavior, Social Psychology, Philosophy, the History of Human Thought, Writing, and American Popular Culture. My teaching style consists of finding that unique style that will suit each individual student. Growing up, I noticed that it was very hard for certain students to grasp certain concepts because they were not engaged in the teaching method. It is no secret that everyone learns a certain way, and no two ways are ever the same. I believe that my patience, my calm demeanor, and habit of wanting to make learning something fun rather than a job has certainly helped me in my education. I also am a big proponent of having children set goals for themselves. Setting goals makes you work harder without feeling the pressure, and I've learned that once children reach that goal they will just want to go higher.

I've been tutoring for the Goodwill to help disadvantaged youth, tutoring ASU students in accounting, economics and algebra. In addition, I helped a friend pass her GED. I have a Marketing BS as well as over 15 hours in accounting and German. Professionally, I have done over 18 years of sales training. In addition, I've been a guest lecturer at Indiana University Northwest and a consultant to the Gary Area Career Center and past member for the Hoosiers for Higher Education. I prefer to tutor math but can tutor other subjects as well.
