Chess is one of my top subjects! 2. I have designed and taught chess classes for both children and adults. The age of students ranges from about five years through senior adults. One-on-one personal chess instruction has also been provided for those age ranges as well. With long term experience, I have founded or co-founded successful scholastic and community-based chess clubs. Students with a wide variety of backgrounds and mental skills have been instructed on topics from the basics through tournament success. 3. Instruction development includes class material, forms and PowerPoint presentations. I have developed various techniques targeted to the audience to enhance their ease of understanding and enjoyment of the game. Documents designed include instructional materials, hand-outs, tests, problems sets, and other chess related items. 4. A Little Bit About Me...

Me teaching style is similar to my leadership style, democratic. I like to have students explain what they are thinking when approaching a problem. This way, it is possible to determine where the breakdown may be. Examples, definitions, and sometimes taking a step back can make a significant difference when attempting to move forward. A strong base is vital.
My passion is sharing my knowledge with others. I studied at Kent State in Kent, Ohio. While at Kent I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, and a minor in English with extensive course work in business. Following undergraduate study, I ventured on to complete a Master of Arts in Physical Education. My concentration was Therapeutic Recreation with a focus in gerontology. I taught a class during my graduate assistanceship and acted as a teaching assistant to three professors.
