Writing is one of my top subjects! What do you want to gain by what you're writing? What do you want to accomplish? To whom are you talking? Why should they read what you are writing? Is is simply creative and poetic? These are some of the questions that are pertinent to a great writer. I have written emails, expositories, poems, manuals of operation, speeches and small books. I have proofread books for authors who are published.

Hands on, activities driven. Very interactive. Goal setting that can be obtained for success development. Conversational when needed.

CERTIFIED ENGLISH TEACHER

Student teaching at Rocky Mountain High School, in Meridian, Idaho. Taught English to sophomores and seniors. I have taught as an observer in middle schools and junior high schools; South in Boise, Idaho, Rober Stuart Junior High in Twin Falls, Idaho, and at Pathways Middle School in Meridian, Idaho. I tutored at South Junior High in the Avid program and in a ESL tutoring room in the same school.
I differentiate my teaching to try and match the current abilities and learning styles of the students. I want to know what the student knows, and then begin to teach them something new. I will demonstrate, guide the student through a few examples and let them do it on their own.

My comments on tutoring Writing : Published Author

I have taught internship classes and tutored statistics at the University level. I have tutored mathematics from elementary to calculus at a junior college. I have been a GRE instructor for the Stanley Kaplan company I founded, owned and operated the Idaho School of Professional Hypnosis for 10 years, teaching hypnosis and hypnotherapy at a professional level. I co-developed the curriculum, designed the teaching strategy, and was the lead instructor.
I use the Socratic method, meeting the students where they are, and using gentle questioning to build on that base. I start with the assumption that all children are gifted learners, and communicate that belief to them. It is essential to create a base of success upon which to build future success. I also spend time finding something to like deeply about each child; and discovering what the child is interested in. When an adult ta ... read more

Let's learn academics together.

I have worked hard at learning German. Although all I speak right now fluently is German and English, I am working on French as well. Having this cornerstone in languages is very important to success as a tutor, because unless you can explain things, you're unable to succeed. I also think in a very step-by-step process, and found that this brought me academic success in Mathematics and Computer Science. This is a very successful combination, as I will prove to be a good asset in your company.
I aim to work with people, by basically a read of the person and then testing them if I need more information. This then gives me the opportunity to relate to them on the many levels an effective teacher has to relate to make the child successful. The idea is to figure out what works on a given student and take their strengths and develop them. This is best done on a case by case basis ... read more

Don't tell me 2+2=4. Tell me WHY 2+2=4.

My teaching style differs with each child. One child does well learning by applying the material to real live situations Another does better with breaking it down and just memorizing facts I am very flexible and make an effort to find the best method to save both myself and the child time that would otherwise be wasted with an ineffective approach to learning.
Although I wish I could count the endless amount of time I spent playing teacher as a child, I know parents are looking for more expierence than an eight year old and her dolls. I have tutored children, ages ranging from eight to fourteen, off and on for three years. I have expierence and am personally more comfortable helping with English and math centered tutoring for any grade level but am able to help with other elementary level classes.I've had the privilege to help with the passionate and the difficult and have been ... read more

You and your student have needs. I'm here to fulfill them.

I prefer to try to be more hands-on in my approach to teaching, especially with younger children. I do know that their attention span isn't as long as that of older people, so I try to keep them engaged through short and interactive sessions.
I've completed high school and been accepted into college, so I obviously have what's needed for the lower levels of education, such as elementary students, and I maintained a GPA of 3.5 throughout my high school career, so there is a good change I'll at least be able to get the resources needed for your student to excel in the subject of study they struggle in. I'm very good with younger children, I've worked with them extensively for several years.

As a graduate from BYU with a BS in finance and composite minors in accounting and economics, I moved into the medical management field. Within 7 years, I had taken a medical practice struggling to survive financially to a 3-physician, 2-midlevel practice. That experience launched a career. Other business background includes general management of a hotel/restaurant/touring company in a resort town. Later, I returned to school to complete an MA in theater. Here, I taught theater as an adjunct professor. I have also written and published a book and several one-act plays and variety shows.
I have a unique approach to teaching because my background is both analytical (numbers and science) and imaginative (theater and literature). While classroom training is my forte, I also have a solid background in teaching online. This combination is particularly useful since no two children learn i ... read more

I have always been passionate about art. I am fortunate to have learned my skill from some very talented and capable professors who I admire; I know I have the ability to successfully teach students at all ages and knowledge levels. I have spent much time volunteering at a local elementary school, not only teaching art, but helping out with other duties as well. I enjoy teaching and helping others in any way that I can. I completed my student teaching in Fall 2009 where I taught grades 7-9 Art Foundations and Drawing. I immensely enjoyed student teaching and was sad to leave. I look forward to having regular students again teaching in a field I am truly passionate about. I have been substitute teaching for the past 2 years in all subjects.
I believe if given the right tools, a student can and will succeed in education. If a student feels comfortable in the classroom, I believe tha ... read more

Initially, I like to find out the basics. I want to know their underlying assumptions in any part of academia, whether it's math or science. I have come to find that the very simplest of assumptions can mislead students. I like to start each problem with a new set of assumptions, or a "given", "find", and "solution" step-by-step process. This allows the student to see the problem as a whole and if there are problems, be able to identify where they are beginning whether it's in the initial assumption or in the solution step.
I have spent the last five years attaining my BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. A Little Bit About Me...

Working in a small school, I was lucky enough to learn that developing a positive relationship with your students makes all the difference! I believe all students have potential. As a teacher it is my job to motivate, model, instruct, observe, and praise for attempts in order for all of my students to find academic success. I hope that I can instill a love of learning in every child I teach. My style of teaching could be described as creative instructional strategies, a willingness to modify on-the-fly to reach objectives, organized, fun and challenging. In general I am a happy, outgoing person who enjoys life and extends this gregarious nature to everyone.
After 10 years in the magazine and event business, I moved into teaching technology at a small, local high school. In addition to teaching, I earned my credential and masters in education during the first three years. My backgro ... read more

After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education I spent 9 years raising my two children. I was actively involved as a volunteer during their preschool and early elementary years. I gained experience in teaching Language Arts and Literacy by first volunteering in their 1st grade classroom and then later as an Aide in a 1st grade classroom. I then went on to teach first grade where I gained experience in developing lessons and curriculum to meet the needs of students with various learning styles. Over the last 2 years I have taught Pre-K and then Kindergarten where I developed teaching strategies to meet the needs of emergent readers as well as incorporating math and science throughout the curriculum. Through these experiences I have had numerous opportunities to work with a variety of students with unique learning styles.
