I recently graduated as B.S. Mathematics with dual major in Computer Science. I have experience as a math tutor at Southeastern Louisiana University, Department of Mathematics and have private tutoring experience since 2013. I have been described as being very flexible with the needs of students. I am just as much of a learning partner as I am a tutor.

A Little Bit About Me...

I think the most useful tutor emphasizes critical thinking. I have noticed that many students focus on memorization instead of really understanding the processes behind science, math, and foreign languages. I try to focus on how and why things are, rather than just the fact that they are. I believe that this approach provides students with a deep understanding of the material and an ability to problem-solve on their own. They can then develop better comprehension, and tend to be more interested in learning.
I graduated with my undergraduate degree in marine biology in 2002 and then worked as a research biologist for two and a half years before returning to school to pursue my master’s degree. I have studied Spanish for over ten years and German for over five years. I have a BA from UCF in foreign language combination. I was a teacher's assistant for a second grade class in 1990 at Winegard Elementary School. I was a hearing-impaired interpreter at a YMCA youth camp for one week in 1990 at Tallahassee. For my last employer, I interpreted Spanish, German, and sign language for cast members and guests on a daily basis for almost 16 years. Additionally, I have tutored math, reading, and spelling for my nieces and nephews at the elementary level. Lastly, I have assisted an elementary school teacher in grading her students' homework and tests upon request occasionally over the last three years.
