My comments on tutoring Government : Current anthropology major how has experience studying societies including governments.

I have been a student for 17 years. I am currently an anthropology undergrad who hope to become a professor. I am usually the person everyone asks for help with Homework. So i thought tutoring would be a natural fit. I enjoy helping individuals proof read. I enjoy helping students learn and find it is very rewarding to see them grow academically. Tutoring also helps me gain knowledge and experience working with students.

Let me help you make a tough subject likeable

In 20 years of teaching experience I have tutored students of all ages, different socio-economic backgrounds and intellectual abilities, as well as in a wide variety of subjects. I have tutored in four public school systems, in private practice with with adults who needed help to prepare for tests and for adults who either wanted to study for their own enrichment or to advance in the corporate world.
The most important thing when working one-on-one with a student is to find out the best ways that student learns. Patience is important, as is humor.

My comments on tutoring Government : I am really good with government, especially as it pertains to international studies. My bachelor's degree is in international studies from Kenyon College.

I am very experienced in teaching small groups of college level students. During my senior year of college I was selected to be a Russian apprentice teacher through Kenyon College's Intensive Language Program. I taught students three times per week for approximately an hour each session. I had to go through training for this position, which taught me how to design lessons and utilize teaching tools to help students understand the material. As I am a recent graduate myself, I understand the needs of most students and what it takes to keep them engaged in learning. For example, I frequently used games as memorization tools for students that focused on repetition as a learning aid. In September, I am leaving to take part in the Peace Corps as a teacher of English language in Ukraine. I plan on pursuing teaching as my future career and want to keep building on my experience.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children need to be motivated, first extrinsically and later intrinsically to maximize learning. I use the standard teaching style of modelling, guided practice, independent practice, and evaulation. This means that students pratice what they learn in the classroom and out of the classroom. The appropriate motivation creates a positive atmosphere. Getting to know each student maximiizes my ability to help each students' progress. Having a sense of humor, patience, and being open minded are helpful too.
I have been fortunate to have a variety of experiences during my teaching career, 29 years total. As a reading teacher, special ed. teacher, and elementary teacher I have taught most subjects at all levels. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe strongly that any student can be inspired to embrace learning. I have found that meeting students where they are at (academic level) is most crucial to inspiring learning. In additional, centering teaching around specific student needs is equally important. This is a challenge when students feel pressured to pass tests, but it can be done! I embrace an inquiry-based model of teaching/learning.

More About This Tutor...

My goal as a teacher is to help students learn and understand Math. I believe as a teacher, you want to pass onto your students to excel in whatever they want to achieve in life. I find students today are in a very competitive and stressful environment in the classroom. The pressure to succeed or be above average is great and can cause the enjoyment in learning to be lost. Mathematics is challenging, and some students pick up the concepts very easily, while others do not. It is important not to lose the students who are having difficulty. Through tutoring sessions, or help from other students in the class, the goal is for the entire classroom to succeed in mathematical learning as a team effort.

As all of us are unique human beings, we have unique learning styles and learn best when we are using these styles to acquire and use information. I am continually amazed at the progress each student can make when encouraged to use the skills he possesses. As a teacher, I try to illustrate the principles I teach: respect for self and others, patience, a sense of humor, and academic rigor. As a teacher of English, I believe that everyone has a story to tell and telling these stories brings great joy to both the writer and the reader. My students have demonstrated, -- and told me, -- that I am correct about this.
