My teaching style is definitely one of facilitator. I present the material in a fashion, which allow students to experiment and develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills. From these skills the students will learn how to approach and solve the problems they are given. Students need to experience success and will do so. Failure is not an option. As a graduate in Elementary Education, I have taught for 30 years in all subject areas, but have concentrated the last 15 years in the area of Math. I have also tutored students. I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board. A Little Bit About Me...

I was a tutor while in college. I tutored students in History, Accounting, and Greek. I was a double major:Accounting and Christian Ministry. I was a substitute teacher in Indiana from 1990-1994. I taught everything from Kindergarden to High School. I was a couple of teacher's personal sub. I also was involved with the program that dealt with students with developmental disabilites. Currently, I am homeschooling my daughter. She is very gifted, so we are letting her interests lead us. She is the hardest one I have ever taught, but that is because I am so close to her.

The true reward comes in being able to impart that knowledge of someone else. However, each person learns differently. I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.
