My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Introduction to algebra can be daunting to children. All those mysterious symbols can be very confusing. I am a gentle and supportive teacher and I put students at ease. Once the anxiety subsides, most kids learn rapidly.
I have logged over 5,000 hours of tutoring in the last four years. I have worked for a game company, which taught me how to approach tests as a contest between student and test-maker, and my extensive background as a writer gives me practical experience when it comes to teaching English and related subjects. My competence in math has always been obvious, as my 796 score (maximum 800) on the math SAT will attest. But most important: I love to teach any child or adult who wants to learn.
I am patient and supportive, but persistent. Each student's mind works differently, and I work tirelessly to find the best way to present material to every child or adult. I have a varied background, not just in the academic world, and I feel I can find the right way to relate to each individual.
