I worked at the Tutoring Club in Folsom, CA for 1 year. I tutored a variety of age groups, mostly high school age, in mathematics up through calculus, chemistry, biology and physics. I also worked at the learning center through Humboldt State University for about a year. Other than that, I have had multiple students for private tutoring sessions since 2005. So I have about 4 years experience in tutoring overall. I obtained 5 associates degrees from American River College in May 2007. They include AS in mathematics, math/science and general science with AA in liberal arts and general education transfer. In December of 2009 I completed all requirements for a BS in Biology with a Marine Emphasis I try to target problem areas that students are having. I love working with students and it is such a joy to watch them learn. I understand that every student has different needs and learns things in different ways and at their own pace. I am kind, patient, and understanding. I believe students learn through discovering the right ways to do things and the reasons, not just regurgitating what an instructor tells them. After making a discovery, consistency and practice help to make it stick. It is my job to help the students reach their potential by providing them with the tools, direction, and explanation they need to help them reach an understanding of their subject. I hold a BA in English from Saint Olaf College and studied a variety of subjects during my time in the Liberal Arts program. I have worked with many college graduates helping them prepare for the GRE in both the English and Math sections, as well as assisting high school students

Teaching and working with children is something that I truly love to do. Everyone has a different learning style. Seeing the look of understanding and comprehension cross a child's face is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can ever have. It is with patience, understanding and constant encouragement that I inspire those around me to excel. Due to the fact that each individual child has a different learning style my teaching style will vary from child to child depending upon their needs. Each child has the one special teacher that they will remember for the rest of their life; I strive to be that teacher.
