I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. I enjoyed tutoring college students interested in physics. During my two years of experienced, I learned that students use different approaches solving physics problems. With physics, I try to apply the problem to a real world situation in which the student would be able to relate it to in which will help them fully understand what is being asked. I found it effective to help the students understand the concepts rather than the problem they are trying to solve. My style as a tutor is more of a question and answer, in which I question the students if they are right and why they think they are. Instead of a instruction type of you do this then this approach. My main goal when tutoring at Slippery Rock was to get the students to understand and enjoy physics as much as I do. I believe physics is an extremely fun and enjoyable subject in which students of every level can excel in.

I am comfortable tutoring lower level math classes, mechanical design, or other engineering classes. Writing classes such as English, literature, or fine arts are fine as well. I have a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering from MIZZOU. I am very proficient in technical editing, critiquing papers and writing technical papers.
Hands on, Practice based, through step by step instruction. Visual learning whenever applicable. Geometry, algebra, physics, and some calculus are in my range of teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

My goal in teaching is to help students understand how the scientific process affects them on a personal level. I try to connect science and mathematics to the world around them by helping them to understand science in the context of other disciplines, including art and politics. Furthermore, I draw on my experience in environmental and pharmaceutical laboratories to increase interest in the coursework.
I am currently a mid-career scientist who is looking to transition into the teaching profession. I have tutored high school and college students for several years in chemistry, algebra, physics, and geometry. I have a BS in Chemistry and have taken additional coursework in chemistry and education. I have extensive experience as a chemist working in the laboratory, and have several published research articles in the field.
