I've worked as a Learning Specialist for 6 years. I started at Mercy Learning in Mandeville and now have a private practice. I trained and began contracting to the Mercy Learning Center, Mandeville Campus as a Learning Specialist for nearly three years. While on staff at MLC I gained valuable insight working with children of differing diagnoses and levels of need, their parents, and clinical care providers. Because my background is medical, my evaluation, diagnostic and case management skill set were a terrific asset in clinical case management and I soon learned how to interface with the school system, as well as compile and present documentation to access services for my clients.

I believe every student can learn. The key is to find your student's strengths and inspire her or his internal motivation. One on one teaching makes a significant difference even in the most reluctant learners. Because I am a very patient and detail oriented person, I feel it is best to adapt my teaching style to the student's learning style. I would first make that evaluation to determine how best to approach teaching the student. I enjoy using hands-on examples and Powerpoint presentations in teaching.
