I have always been passionate about communications and teaching. I began tutoring mathematics in High School and during my undergraduate schooling I mentored and tutored introductory university level physics, calculus, chemistry, and organic chemistry. I am currently in graduate school at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine studying Molecular Biology and Genomics but remain informally interested in mathematics and physics.
I adjust to the student/learner as I am told or discover their learning preferences. However, in my experience and research, I have noticed that active learning and discovery-based learning are arguably most effective mechanisms for knowledge retention. Therefore, I make considerable efforts to implement these styles into my teaching.

I do not give you the answers, but I help you figure out the answer for yourselves. First, we read the problem together to make sure that you read the problem carefully and understand what is being asked. Then, we go through understanding definitions, concepts, and formulas that you can use. You do the math/algebra, but I am there with you to help you go over confusing parts of the problem. Math Tutor! Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry!

I have tutored algebra 1 and 2, college algebra, intermediate algebra, pre-calculus, and geometry. My best subject is mathematics. On the SAT math section, I scored a 700 with the highest score being 800. When I was a freshman high school, I tutored students older than myself in subjects such as Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry. While still in high school, I took College Algebra at Broward College. I got the highest grade in that class -- an A.
My tutoring style is explaining the concept in the simplest possible terms and then practicing a few problems with the student. Then when I see the client has grasped the concept, I move on. I do not believe in rushing the student because I know how frustrating it is when one does not understand something.
