I am a higher education professional who has come to believe that the best way to impact students is to return to teaching. I have a long-standing interest in the philosophy of teaching. I am particularly impressed by "deep learning," a movement that emphasizes critical thinking and inquiry at all levels of teaching. I also believe in high expectations combined with a strong support system, and a common sense approach to the subject matter. From May 2007 to August 2010, I attended Emporia State University where I worked on a dual-bachelor’s degree program in physics and engineering. In August 2010, I transferred to Kansas State University to complete the program. During my last year at Emporia State University, I worked in the Brighton Laboratory, tutoring students in a variety of math courses ranging from Beginning Algebra to Calculus I. In May 2011, I graduated from Emporia State with a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics.
