My comments on tutoring Study Skills : I have utilized study skills to prepare students for various tests. Also, I have used study skills during my bachelor, Masters, and doctoral degrees. Lastly, I have helped college students with study skills.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. Lastly, I currently tutor students of various ages in math, reading, science, social studies, and writing.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is more student centered. I believe that involving the students with hands on activities allows them to grasp and understand certain topics easier. Especially in a science classroom where we are studying intangible topics, like the core of the earth, or the stars, or the atmosphere, students may have difficulties understanding these ideas from a strictly lecture based approach to educating. Also I understand that schools are becoming more and more diverse regarding the student body population. This fact means that it is important for me to use multiple types of assessment and teaching methods in the classroom.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Business Administration major, I have had extensive schooling in all realms of business, accounting, and finance. In my earlier years, I had extensive exposure to math of all levels, as well. Additionally, I am very strong in English, even having edited a book and written the foreword for it. During my early college years I was employed in the Tutoring Lab and volunteered at the YMCA; more recently I have tutored individuals on an as-needed basis.
I believe that everyone is teachable, if the student has the desire and the teacher has the commitment. I tend to be a patient teacher, with high standards. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While working on my MA in English Literature with a Certificate in Folklore at George Mason university, I worked as a substitute teacher and then was hired as a full time middle school English teacher.
