My comments on tutoring Science : can tutor with some review of the subject.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in History. I have 7 years experience as an Engineer. In High School I went to an international baccalaureate school and focused on math and science. I believe that tutoring is the key to successful learning by incorporating the following 5 rules to teaching: Assist A tutor's main job responsibility is to assist students academically in whichever subject(s) the students are seeking improvement. This may be difficult at first because not everyone learns the same way, so before a tutor can assist, he should get to know his students a little. Evaluate After tutoring for a while, some tutors will go back and evaluate students' progress in order to see where improvements can be made. The tutor may evaluate her teaching skills to make sure her students are receiving enough attention and assistance. Motivate A tutor should ... read more

Since memorizing usually helps for short term memory, I create ways to understand and remember ideas that are easy and fun to learn. By using methods used by World Memory Championship competetors and by star Kaplan instructors, I make remembering easy and painless. With this method, it is harder to forget what you learn!
I have a bachelors degree in biology from Augusta State University, and I am currently a third year medical student. I have tutored biology majors and nursing students in the past with great results. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor's in Computer Science with focus on the Microsoft languages (C++, C#, ASP, dotNEt, etc.) The requirements for this degree was heavy in math. I do, however, feel better qualified in verbal and writing skills. I also have a minor in Philosophy and Theology. This ties in with my High School and middle school upbringing, having attended a Catholic middle and High school as well as the University I attended being a Baptist school. My full time job (Monday - Friday mornings) is as a programmer, so my technical knowledge is always fresh in my mind.
My tutoring style is somewhat laid-back with serious undertones. I feel the best way to learn is to not have information force fed, but to allow the individual to glean knowledge and come to an understanding of the subject gradually. While I am serious about learning and education, I also consider my sense of humor my stronges ... read more

I have worked with children in the public school system for thirty-four years as a classroom teacher, Title I augmented reading teacher and as a media specialist. Largely due to my years experience as a reading teacher my class of inner city children scored in the top one percentile on the Georgia Criterion Reference Test(GA CRCT) in Reading. I have always felt that if you give a child the wings to fly via reading and life long love of learning they can achieve whatever they desire in life, and I think I have been quite successful in this area.
My strongest area of expertise in teaching is reading. I have taught it for years. I have come to the conclusion through both personal experience, observation of other master teachers and through current educational research that it is most necessary to teach reading and math daily in a systematic manner while exposing the students to a le ... read more

As a child of an educator I learned the importance of good education very early in my life. I earned my teaching degree and went on to teach elementary school for several years. I was the grade group chairman, math liason and served on the committee to improve test scores while keeping the children and their education my number one priority. I have homeschooled my children and taught in an academic co-op with other homeschooled children. During the last ten years I have tutored elementary children in all academic subjects required for success on their current grade level.
Teaching has been my passion for many years. I have taught swimming lessons since 1980 and found that I enjoyed working with children so much that decided to make it my career. During my course as a math tutor, I’ve found one on one tutoring to be most effective. Each child presented different needs and was receptive to different teaching methods, so I would meet with them individually. I believe each child is just as likely to succeed as the next one, and as a tutor, it is my job to encourage and instill confidence in them.
As I approach my college graduation, I have realized how fortunate I am to have been given the opportunity to attend college. I understood the importance of understanding math in life early on and my Finance degree only validated that notion. Early this year, I began tutoring advanced math to middle school kids and found it to be a rejuvenating to see young minds eagerly waiting to be academically challenged.

I had my first experience with tutoring in an intensive summer program at Georgia Tech before my freshman year when a good friend and upperclassman helped me navigate my way through Chemistry and college life. I had my first official tutoring role as a teaching assistant and mentor for an introductory course for incoming Chemistry and Biology majors. In addition, I had the opportunity to do chemistry demonstrations at Atlanta middle schools and science fairs. I graduated from Tech with a BS in Chemistry. Over the past four years, I have worked unofficially as the family tutor by tutoring my cousins and siblings in Biology, Physics, English, and Algebra and have amassed a variety of helpful tips and teaching resources.
My teaching style consists mostly of being patient. Not all students are quick to learn everything. We all have our strengths and weaknesses, but it is important to ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my tutoring experience by tutoring high school algebra and geometry to fellow students during my senior year of high school. During my four years at LaGrange College I worked in the Tutoring Lab as a tutor for biology and humanities. After graduation, and before entering medical school, I worked as a tutor for Sylvan Learning Center and worked with students seeking homework support for Algebra and Geometry as well as with other students enrolled in the Math Essentials program. While at Sylvan I also taught the math portion of the SAT Prep course. Throughout the course of my education, I have gained experience in biology, chemistry, physics, and calculus, and over the past seven years I have instructed students in biology, algebra, geometry, and basic mathematics, as well as helped students with writing research papers and essays.

I graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering within a span of 3 years. I spent the next year earning a Master of Science in Medical Physics degree from the same institution and I am currently a medical student at the Medical College of Georgia. My past tutoring experiences have included teaching high school and college students math, science and writing.
I approach tutoring from an adaptive stance, in that I believe each student learns best in his own, unique way. Some students prefer a more direct approach while others would prefer something resembling the socratic method. My ultimate goal is for the students to be comfortable and confident with the material. A good teacher always hopes for his students to exceed him.

Every teacher must recognize that individuals learn at their own pace. I try to begin at a pace that the student feels comfortable with while gradually challenging them to improve their performance. My technical background makes me a very visual person. I like to incorporate that in my instruction, using visual aides and examples. Placing student of varying levels together will aide the learning process. My three-step guide is learn—teach—perform. If a student has learned the material well enough to teach another, they are well on their way to master the subject.
I have worked in the private sector for over 28-years. During that time, I have earned Associates Degrees in Business Administration and Mechanical Engineering Technology.
