I graduated from high school in 2011 with special honors and as co-valedictorian. I am now attending the University of Mississippi where I am majoring in accountancy and minoring in business. My passion is writing, so naturally that is what I do best. Every year, I am contacted by numerous students from my high school and also my classmates at Ole Miss about proofreading their papers. I have also worked with helping students study for math classes, including but not limited to pre-algebra and algebra. My best subjects have always been English and math, but I am efficient in all high school level courses with the one exception of science, which has always been my weakness. I have always enjoyed assisting our youth work through various academic endeavors. I have been tutoring grades k-12 for several years now. I have helped all ages with a wide variety of assignments. My teaching style varies based on the age of the student. I like to be a little more animated with my k-6 graders. On the other hand, with my 7-12 graders I focus more so on making a connection with the material--showing them how it relates to them.

As a graduate of a small junior college I believe one on one teaching gives students the advantage over a large group because the child can receive the necessary attention for learning skills in reading, writing and math. Many children learn differently some are visual learners,some are audio etc. I have been instructed through various techniques in reading with chilldren that will help them achieve a higher reading level of success. I am a hands on person where math is concerned allowing the child to use mannipulatives. Taking time to explain until they understand. In reading we can do shared reading and other techniques. I have taught as an English Instructor at East Mississippi Community College and Mary Holmes College. I taught several courses. Developmental I and II were very basic grammar and writing courses. Composition I and II were courses that introduced students to writing essays and the research paper. In addition, I have also taught English as A Second Language at Mississippi State University and Greater Columbus Learning Center. I taught grammar, reading, phonics, vocabulary, and conversational English. I also worked at RTP for a year as a GED tutor. I tutored math, social studies, and language arts. I also worked with students who were studying for the ACT. I believe that every student deserves a quality education, and it is my responsibility not just to lecture or impart information, but to ensure that students gain a fundamental understanding of the material being presented.

I have just recently graduated with my Masters from Ole Miss. I will begin my PhD in the fall. I have taught Health classes at the University for the past two years.
