A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught 29 years in public and private schools. I have home schooled. I have been a teacher evaluator and a mentor of first year teachers. I have been on the Berkeley County Teacher Forum. I have taken many in-services. The last couple I have taken were Math Solutions and Smart Board Notebook. I am Reading Recovery trained. I am working on a dissertation and hope to finish in December.
I believe students need to be encouraged by giving them successful experiences. As a special ed. teacher I find that many of my students have experienced failure and it is my job to show them that they can learn and be successful. I believe all students are unique individuals who need a secure, caring, stimulating environment in which to grow and mature. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is more of a Facilitator/Personal Model/Expert. Emphasizes personal nature of teaching-learning relationship; asks questions, explores options with learners; and focuses on Collaborative, Participant, Independent. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences.
As a 3.88 GPA graduate, I was very driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a BS in sociology minor psychology and MS in Human Services organizational Management and Leadership, which has enabled me to gain understanding in many areas of science and math. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. During the last 2 years I have tutored students in mathematics and sciences.
