A Little Bit About Me...

As a junior and senior in college, my research papers consistently received the highest grades ever awarded by a certain professor with a reputation for being the toughest on campus. I subsequently became a successful trade journalist and marketing communications writer with in excess of 150 feature articles to my name. In addition, the last eight years, during which I've been a homeschooling mom, have allowed me to hone my teaching style and become more aware of the barriers students typically have and effective methods of overcoming writing difficulties.
I enjoy helping students find the writer within them! I have always desired to be a teacher. I graduated from Penn State in 1981 with an English degree and a music minor. I have since continued to take classes in both English and Music Education. I have taught all grades, tutored individuals and groups in summer school, and have a private studio as a music teacher. I have tutored students with reading difficulties for 20 years. As an English teacher, I have taken students on trips to see Shakespeare in the Park and to Pattee Library to learn to use reference materials. Later, as a homeschooling mother of four, I taught all of my children all subjects through the eighth grade level. I just returned from the island of Saipan, where I taught high school English in a private school, and seventh grade English in a public school.
