I work with students on a hands on, personalized instructional manner. I teach study skills as well as subject knowledge. I have worked with children throughout college, both in academic and nonacademic settings. I worked on a family literacy program at the Mississippi Childrens Museum, called Planting the Seeds to Read, which entailed teaching children literacy skills and coaching parents in literacy strategies for home. I teach at Canton Young Filmmakers Workshops every summer.

Earned Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of Memphis in 1991. Taught in preschool from 1992 until 1993 in Concord, CA. Taught my own children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. My teaching style includes more than one style because different children learn in different ways. For example, a child may learn by doing(I would use the demonstration-performance method). Another may be an auditory learner where I would use the lecture method, on a child's age level of course. While a different child may be a visual learner and in that case I would use many visual aids as well as do a lot of independent reading. Without testing, I would not know the child's exact learning style and therefore, would employ all three teaching methods/styles so as to maximize the learning experience. The child chooses the style. What I mean by this is that every child is different and every one of them learn differently. Teaching on a more personal level is how to aid the best results. My experience started in my high school years helping my brother and sisters with homework while our mom was working. Presently I am employed at a day care center/ school, were everyday is spent engaged with the kids and their educational needs. I love interacting with the children at work so much so, that the idea of taking on tutoring sounds more so like a new hobby.

I am very patient. I will work with each individual based on their unique learning style. I am a current College student. I have successfully completed numerous course in every area of study. I frequently tutor friends in areas they aren't as proficient in. My best areas of study are those of biology and English, but I am also well educated in math and social studies. I am a current business/pre-physical therapy major so I have a background in just about every field of study.
