English ESOL is one of my top subjects! I have my Master's Degree in ESL and have taught ESL for the past four years to elementary and middle school students.

I have been teaching students for the past twelve years. I taught in the field of Special Education with students in grades 1-5 for eight years. I received my Masters Degree in reading and ESL and now I teach ESL to students in 1st and 2nd grades. I also tutor students of all grades at Sylvan Learning Center in the areas of reading, writing, and math. I have also tutored students at Cardinal Stritch University in reading.
I enjoy using a hands-on approach when it suits the needs of my students. I enjoy playing games, showing short learning videos, singing songs, scaffolding strategies with my students.

Russian for beginners from an American who lived there

In the USA, I have had 11 years of experience teaching English at the high school level and four years of experience in teaching English at the college level. I earned an M.A. in English from Marquette University. In Russia I had five years of experience in teaching college English classes and giving private English lessons to children and teenagers. After taking Russian classes at a small college, I went to Russia in 1995 and lived there until 2000, studying Russian every day with a private tutor.

As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. Rote memory has it's place and is essential, but when a student becomes passionate about a subject, then the door is open for them to excel at it. I teach and tutor with the goal in mind to foster that passion, that drive and to be able to carry it throughout a life of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a lifelong lover of literature and writing, I have taught students from fifth grade through junior level college literature and writing courses. My MA and PhD degrees have only further accelerated my desire to continue publishing academically in peer reviewed journals.
