A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught two years of middle school and home schooled my daughter. I have worked as a substitute teacher on and off for several years. My emphasis in college was English and Math so I feel very comfortable teaching either of these subjects as well as reading.
My teaching style is flexible. Students learn in different ways and at different paces. It is my job to discover how the students learn and what they respond best to. For some subjects, repetition is very important and for others a clearer understanding of the concepts involved is more valuable. I like to start with small skills and build on them.

My first job out of graduate school was as an adjunct history instructor at Columbus State University. I did all of the planning, lecturing, and grading for my classes. As an instructor, I have had experience proofreading student papers as well as giving suggestions on grammar and format. In my most recent position, I reviewed resumes for clients who were leaving the military and seeking civilian employment. I had to be mindful of correct grammar in civilian and federal resumes.
