More About This Tutor...

I have two years tutoring experience. In college, I tutored college students who struggled with math (algebra, trigonometry, calculus, etc). Other experience I have is derived from having taken and successfully passed (A) those courses I can tutor. I also help and tutor students who would like to learn how to play piano by ear, chords (major, minor, diminished, augmented), hear a song and determine chords, accompanying a singer, etc. I have experience in playing piano by ear for churches from almost 2 years. I occasionally play piano/keyboard in a band setting.

Calculus I is one of my top subjects! I just received an A at Ball State University's calculus course which is the highest letter grade one can earn.

I am in my third year at Ball State University. I recently changed my major from Biology to Accounting; therefore, I have lots of knowledge in many different areas - some that aren't listed on my profile. I am experienced in categories ranging from Biology to Accounting to baking. I won several Grand Champion awards in Indiana's Madison County 4-H program for Baking and Woodworking while I have A's in Chemistry, Accounting, Biology, Spanish, Calculus, and many many other subjects from Ball State University. If you have a question, chances are that I have an answer!
I like to teach as if I am one friend talking to another. I find that this is the most relaxed way to encourage learning. While a relaxed atmosphere is important, my parents (both elementary and high school teachers) showed me the importance of completing objectives. I have extensive experience in Civil Engineering as well as basic sciences. My core strength includes continusly varying developments until goals are achieved.Teaching is my passion and I m keen to deliver in depth concepts in sciences to students.I believe that students should feel free to discuss their problems and new ideas to their teacher as it provides growth in their success.Their should never be any gap between students and teacher.
My teaching methodolgy is through written assignments, problems solving and through presentations.Any other methodolgy if any students want,I will do my best effort to do that accordingly.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching philosophy has developed through my experiences as a high school physics teacher, as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics at Texas Tech University, and through tutoring individual students. In my experience, high level of student participation is important. First, it allows students to at least start thinking towards a problem in their own way, and later start debating over what they have learned in the classroom. I try to encourage the class by carefully organizing my lectures. With a clear organization, students are more likely to believe they understand the framework of the class and therefore will be willing to ask questions about the sections they may not understand. A second technique which I believe provided usefulness is carefully planned homework assignments which lean more toward conceptual understanding than filling in numbers within a formula. My teaching style is one of friendly leadership. Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. Helping a student learn is more than just teaching them a lesson in math, science, or English; it’s about being someone that they can look up to as a role model, being someone that they can learn from in more than just an academic manner, and being someone who is there for them when they need something. Personally, I think students of all ages and academic levels need to be coached and pushed to achieve their full potential.

I love teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. I would love to be a part of your child's academic success. Not only am I patient, easy going, and kind but I am determined to do whatever it takes to get your child to stretch for their maximum potential. Although learning math and science require doing practice problems, I will be looking for the best way to teach and motivate the child according to their natural tendencies. The right teacher can make a huge difference in the education of children. I pledge to do my best in all of my students' lives.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very strong passion towards teaching. While many teachers tend to go towards adminstration afters 10 years of teaching, I have no desire to go that route. I want to remain teaching in this subject area because I find joy in math, and I want to help students find joy in math as well. I hope that my enthusiasm spills over into the classroom easily for my students, which is my strongest characteristic. I use a very traditional style of teaching math, however I like to use ways to help students remember processes in an easier manner.

My teaching style is my tutoring style as I do mostly tutoring. I work with students to determine the missing math procedures or concepts. When a student misses a question, I do not simply show them the solution or correct answer. I solve the problem with the student (without looking at the answer) by discussing the approach (procedure) together. In this way, we share the approach to the solution and weak spots are revealed.
I have had a very successful career as an Engineer/Plant Manager. I changed careers and I am now Teaching/Tutoring. I teach/tutor High School math at an inter-city school (IPS). I also work for a Huntington Learning Center working with high-achieving high school students trying to improve their SAT and ACT math scores.

I recently graduated Ph.D. in Chemistry from one of the best chemistry programs in the country this past May. I had been a graduate student at Arizona State University for the past 5 years and I have essentially put myself through 9 years of college through dedication, hard work, and an undergraduate scholarship. I graduated 20th out of 456 students at Hamilton Southeastern High School and was awarded a full tuition alumni scholarship at Indiana State University. During the course of my undergraduate work, I developed a love for chemistry. I have had experience tutoring and teaching students in chemistry since 2004 and have loved every minute of it.

My teaching style is to involve the student at his or her level of knowledge and to encourage them to succeed on a personal and professional level. Hands on, real world examples are the most effective when learning mathematics. It is very important to understand the theory behind what is calculated, in order to understand what is being done. Working lot of examples, from different points of view, and finding easy ways to sanity check your answers is also important.

I came here straight out of college, and have had the opportunity to bring a lot of new ideas and technology into the math classroom. I have learned that the best way to teach is to let the student know how much you enjoy the subject and then work to make them feel the same way. I also know that you cannot predict what methods will be best for all people. I prepare extensivesly with sample tests, worksheets, as well as fun learning activities. When it comes to the tutoring session, I am not uptight about my style, I can sense when a method is or is not working and then use any or all of the methods that help the student retain the knowledge. When that happens, you know that there will not be much of a need for you anymore, but it is a great feeling to help someone enjoy learning as much as I do personally.
