Calculus I is one of my top subjects! I just received an A at Ball State University's calculus course which is the highest letter grade one can earn.

I am in my third year at Ball State University. I recently changed my major from Biology to Accounting; therefore, I have lots of knowledge in many different areas - some that aren't listed on my profile. My teaching philosophy has developed through my experiences as a high school physics teacher, as a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics at Texas Tech University, and through tutoring individual students. In my experience, high level of student participation is important. First, it allows students to at least start thinking towards a problem in their own way, and later start debating over what they have learned in the classroom. I try to encourage the class by carefully organizing my lectures. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very strong passion towards teaching. While many teachers tend to go towards adminstration afters 10 years of teaching, I have no desire to go that route. I want to remain teaching in this subject area because I find joy in math, and I want to help students find joy in math as well. My teaching style is my tutoring style as I do mostly tutoring. I work with students to determine the missing math procedures or concepts. When a student misses a question, I do not simply show them the solution or correct answer. I solve the problem with the student (without looking at the answer) by discussing the approach (procedure) together. In this way, we share the approach to the solution and weak spots are revealed.
I have had a very successful career as an Engineer/Plant Manager. I changed careers and I am now Teaching/Tutoring. I teach/tutor High School math at an inter-city school (IPS).
