I feel that it is important to explain basic underlying theory behind science and math, as well as presenting these topics in a step by step, logical manner. I feel it is important to teach methods for how to obtain a solution and not rely on rot memorization of facts and equations. As a graduate student I taught an undergraduate engineering lab course for a semester, and spend 2-3 additional semesters grading tests and assignments for various undergraduate level courses in mechanical engineering. In addition, I also worked as a tutor during my senior year in high school, as well as at various times while an undergraduate student in college. The subjects that I have teaching/tutoring experience are in the fields of math and science.

I am excellent at breaking things down and making them easy to remember. Relating the subject material to something the learner can understand is key. I am very patient and will take the time to learn how to help each student in the most productive way I can. Completing a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics in less than four years took dedication and excellent study skills. So far, I have only tutored people in Calculus, and Physics, but I am comfortable with Differential Equations, Discrete Math, freshman Chemistry and Biology, and pretty much anything Computer Science related at the undergraduate level.

As a first generation college student, I appreciated when teachers made me feel special, and I try to do the same. I was a Resident Assistant and Wellness Coordinator for a dormitory at WVU for three years, where I received a Resident Assistant of the Year Award. I currently teach four sections of general biology lab and two sections of comparative anatomy lab. I was awarded the 2010 Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year award for the Department of Biology with a 93% evaluation rate.
