Government is one of my top subjects! Not only have I studied American government, I served as a legislative liaison between the executive branch and the legislative branch. Being in daily contact with members of Congress and departmental decision-makers within the Department of the Interior has given me a unique perspective on American government.

I returned to school in 2007 to pursue a career in education. In several corporate positions, I was responsible for training new employees in various store operations. I have volunteered as a teacher in my church and taught Sunday School at the middle school level. During my courses and student teaching, I utilized many hands-on and inquiry-based tools to help students learn new concepts. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the students understand what really happened with that specific event and how it impacted history.

This particular position interests me because I struggled with math through middle school and understand the frustration it can create for a student. Mathematics is now my strongest subject and I chose the profession of accounting to utilize those strengths. During my time at college, I helped other students with their studies in math and business, specifically statistics and quantitative analysis.
