My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. Some learn by seeing it. They have to see it and then maybe write it and learn by visualizing. Some learn by listening. They can listen to a lecture and hang on to every word. I understand that all children are different, and therefore lessons have to be taylored to fit each child's learning needs. I love children and enjoy teaching. When I was teaching in a public school, I was very well liked by both children and parents. I was there for every child; not just the good ones. My goal was to take the child that other teachers talked negatively about in the lunchroom and show them that I had no problems with that same child. Teachers should not stereotype. I have earned a bachelor degree in Communications Studies with a minor in Public Relations. In 2006, I received a Master's degree in Communications with an emphasis in Oral Speaking. Presently, I am two semesters away from an Ed.S. in Higher Education with hopes of entering the doctorate program next fall. I have taaught a variety of levels of Communication courses at Marshall University, MCTC, and Huntington Junior College.

The most basic tools to getting a good education, I believe, are having a firm mastery of reading and writing. Throughout my education, I have always excelled in all aspects of reading and writing, and I believe I have done so because I genuinely enjoy reading and writing. These skills have played an indispensable part in every class I ever took in college and even outside of school. Today, reading and writing are the most fundamental tools I use in my job as a judicial clerk. I took many grammar and proofreading classes in college because I believe that having a mastery of the English language is fundamental to succeeding as a student and in the working world.
