I have over 10 years of experience in the education field with a special love for tutoring Mathematics. My experience is extensive as I ran my own tutoring business for 3 years doing mostly freelance work in college. The unique thing about my experience is that I have tutored ages 8-28 through my many recipients. I have a knack for getting children and adults excited to learn whether it is through motivation outside the subject area, or showing them that they can in fact do this.

I worked at Majesty Christian Academy for two years. During tha time I was a Teacher's Assistant. I assisted lead teacher with student instruction. I also supervised children and were responsible for taking care of children. I was offered a position and taught a computer course to elementary students. I have a Bachelors Degree from Old Dominion University in Education. I enjoy working with children, I prefer working with elementary students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a creative teacher, meaning that I assess the individual and do not have an agenda that I adhere to. Normally, I am able to advance a child a grade level in reading with three months of tutoring and reinforcing homework, during the summer. However, I will go the extra mile to help a student be able to totally understand what I am trying to help them learn. I have numerous children's educational CD-ROMs for the children who learn better with that visual help. I love to watch children learn and love to be the one who makes them able to succeed. I presently teach at a K-12 private school for students with learning differences. I have taught students in all grades, K-12. This year, I have been a remediation teacher in reading (decoding), math, and writing. In math, I am comfortable teaching through geometry. I have 10 plus years teaching students with dyslexia and other reading deficits with their decoding and spelling skills. Through programs that implement Orton-Gillingham approaches, I have found great success.
