I really believe learning science is meant to be an experience, not just an exercise in memorization. I like to teach things with hands-on activities and field experiences. I feel like this helps the student internalize things more effectively and allows them to see that science truly can be FUN!

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past two years I have been employed as a Graduate Assistant at Morehead State University. My responsibilities as a graduate assistant included the preparation of laboratory materials, assisting professor in the lecture as well as the laboratory of undergraduate courses, tutoring students in addition to providing support in the classroom, directing students on laboratory techniques, proctoring and grading exams and other assigned materials. Teaching to me is about how to engage the student. The material that is prepared for daily lessons can be nothing more than just words to some students. The instructor must become one with the student and understand them on their level. Once you can see eye to eye with your students, then you can begin to help them learn and grow. I learn right along with my students, gaining interpersonal skills from every student. The student's feedback and honesty helps me as an instructor meet the needs of future students. Students are the backbone of the future and their strength comes from how you teach them to see themselves in the world making a difference.
