A Little Bit About Me...

I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory. That to me is not only developing the ability to draw on a built up knowledge base, but also broadens ones ability to convey what has been learned.
I have always wanted to teach. When I was a child I would round up the kids in my neighborhood and make them do lessons that I created. I do remember they did not like that. I love teaching chemistry and science classes - I am very patient in teaching and attempt to relate the subject to everyday occurences. I believe that all can learn if given the opportunity and drive - people are afraid of the sciences because of the unknown - I bring the unknown to a common place. I love showing examples and bringing the laboratory portion into the class to relate to what is occuring - sometimes chemisty is fearful as it seems to be alot of math - it is but it can be used to help in other subjects.
