Let's make learning fun!!!

I have worked with children for over 15 years. During this time I have provide homework help and tutoring in Math, Reading and Spanish. The children that I have worked with range in age from 5 to 17 years old. I have also done an extensive amount of work with infants and toddlers in the field of early learning as a nanny. My experience in working with children of so many ages has helped me to know what steps to implement in order to make children feel comfortable and confident while addressing challenges to learning materials. I have always enjoyed math and reading as a student and spent a short period of time studying Spanish abroad. During my time in college I was even more hands on with the youth enrichment at my church, working as a counselor/mentor for Vacation Bible School and the after school program.
I like to do a lot of positive reinforcing and reaffirming.

My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Passed with A's. Spent over fifty hours doing on-the-spot tutoring this and other math subjects on-the-spot.

I have had over fifty hours of experience tutoring math on the spot. Students would come in at whatever time was convenient for them while I was available with varying questions from a wide array of subjects. Sessions were student-led and I worked on quickly transferring between completely different topics.
I am used to student-led teaching. The students choose the topic they feel they need the most help with. I walk him/her through an example problem or two and then he/she does a few alone. Once I feel that he/she is comfortable with the topic, I ask whether he/she would like to try any more. This allows the student to take control of their time and learning experience, which is often much more interesting and enjoyable for them. However, I am open to going through the book consecutively. This would allow me to practice and prepare for each lesson specifically. I would continue pe ... read more

I love tutoring math and I am a step-by-step oriented tutor. I have had several students return saying how my style of tutoring continues to help them in their current studies. In my 4 years of experience, I've learned that many students learn with many different styles. I believe that every student can learn; however, the tutor must reach them at their level. For 4 years I tutored math at all levels at Lehigh carbon community college since 2007. In that time I have learned diff ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in creating an atmosphere of mutual respect. I use a technique to assess what the student already knows by observing them and asking questions. Understanding their starting point will me help them to take their learning to the next step. By being familiar with their skills sets and their learning needs, I am adding to the student’s skills and knowledge, while respecting their personal learning process. I believe that explaining underlying accounting fundamentals reinforces learning and asking questions is the usual way I measure a learner’s knowledge. I am knowledgeable, patient and considerate.
As a National Dean's List graduate from Alvernia University, I am driven towards high standards. I am semi-retired. Earning a Certified Public Accountant designation from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has enabled me to gain a broad understanding in areas of accounting, ... read more

As an Engineer in making I go through this process everyday where sometimes I have to learn and sometimes I have to teach. I work in a team, and try to make connection between material and some real life example. Just to show an example, the pythagorus theorem is really useful to work around were we make use of the hypotenuse to walk less from point a to b rather than going through the path.
I am a student from Rutgers University pursuing double major in Electrical and Computer Engineer. As an engineer, I have taken all the Calculus courses and also on top of that required Chemistry and Physics. I was awarded Most passionate about Mathematics award and also was named young scholar of new jersey.
