Children have many different learning styles, and as an educator it is my job to discern which approach works best for each individual. In teaching math, I believe that all children learn best with a hands-on approach. Providing real-world examples and manipulatives that children can pick up, touch, and move around should be used at all levels – from kindergarten through high school. I am by nature an encourager. I am optimistic every child can learn -- the trick is to spark an interest in the subject and communicate the material to them in an understandable way. I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless.
