I am a credentialed teacher who has had 22 yrs. of teaching experience, ten years in elementary and twelve years in middle school. I majored in English Literature in college and have taught seventh and eight grade Language Arts for 12 years. I specialized in teaching the honors students, but also enjoyed teaching grammar, writing skills, literary appreciation to all levels of students. All throughout my High School & College experience, I was inspired by Ancient World History. In addition to competing as a collegiate athlete, I have also traveled to Europe twice on educational study abroad programs, which has enabled me to gain a much deeper understanding. My degree contains an emphasis in Language which means I spent considerable time translating Latin and Ancient Greek texts. My approach to teaching begins with having a high expectation for what my students can accomplish. Therefore, my goal is, in part, to help my students love learning and to translate the love for learning into higher achievements. I try to inspire the students In terms of style, I explain the basic concept being taught and then illustrate by way of examples. I combine a bit of lecturing with meaningful interaction. Next, it is the students term to practice what has been taught. I may use a variety of interactive learning games in order to re-enforce the concept being taught.
