A Little Bit About Me...

I have approximately one year of experience of professional teaching working with a grant funded program at UNCP. With this program was very hands-on and interactive with the students. I worked directly with the professors in the science department.
As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past six months I have been substitute teaching while pursuing my master's degree in elementary education. I am an avid reader and have experience, though not professional experience, in teaching children to read and write proficiently. I have worked closely with exceptional students in the role of a substitute teacher and believe that if given the opportunity I could thrive as a tutor.
Each individual learns in a different manner. Some students are visual learners, while others are better served by a hands-on environment. I have seven (7) years of musical experience in concert band, jazz band, marching band, orchestra, and pep band. I also have tutored through the Boys and Girls Club along with a program my college inacted for students who were hearing-impaired, mostly in the areas of math and grammar. I have also graduated in the top 10% of my class, both in high school and college. I have maintained a 3.0 GPA in both high school and college. My strengths are math and grammar.
I am patient, considerate, and able to adapt to each child's way of learning to be able to help them understand what it is that they are trying to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.
As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.

I attended a college preparatory high school, where academia was highly stressed and valued. Through hard work and much effort, I excelled in all subject areas earning above a 4.0 when I graduated. As a California Polytechnic State University graduate in psychology and public policy, I have gained thorough knowledge in the liberal arts as well as mathematical subject areas, such as statistics.
