I am a graduate of the University of Idaho where I received both my BS and MS in Chemistry. I taught general and physical chemistry laboratory courses while earning my MS as well. Finally, I tutored students in all branches of chemistry including high school level and organic. Since my MS was in physical chemistry, I learned quite a bit about mathematics and have even tutored my own chemistry students in algebra. Chemistry does require algebra, after all. I like to ask questions of my students so they're the ones who figure out the topic as opposed to me telling them. Then I like to expand on that by going into the details of the subject as that's the only way to truly understand something. In my experience, tutoring this way helps the students become familiar with the topic as well as understanding why the topic is important.
