Generally I will try to ask questions to see which specific points a student needs assistance with and make sure they understand the material on a fundamental level. I also believe that practice and hands-on experiences teach the most, so there tends to be an emphasis on working through problems step-by-step than lecturing. Ultimately I am flexible, and can change my style and routine to accommodate the students' needs.
While at the University of Tulsa I have tutored in both math and chemistry, so I have experience with those subjects in particular. Though I received a bachelors in Psychology I was also pre-med, so I was required to take several heavy science courses as well. As such I am also proficient in several biological subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a student at the University of Central Oklahoma. My major is economics, and my minor is mathematics. Once I take calculus 4, I will have a minor in mathematics. I have approximately three more semesters until I graduate.
I am the oldest of five children, and all of us were homeschooled. I love teaching younger children, and I enjoyed helping my siblings out with homework when they needed help. I like to draw pictures and explain things on paper so it is easier to understand.

A Little Bit About Me...

While studying physics at the University of Texas, I was exposed to a variety of educational experiences. My course work provided me with extensive study in mathematics and in physics courses designed for science majors. Also, I worked in the Lecture Demonstrations office, which provided working demonstration props for use in lower division physics courses taught to students of both science and non-science backgrounds. In addition, I was employed by the UT Learning Center as a tutor for mathematics and physics which honed my skills as teacher as well as student. These skills were then put to work as both independent tutor and as a teacher of mathematics at the secondary level.

I truly enjoy working with students. In my experience, many students get discouraged when they become confused with the content of material they are studying. I feel that in many cases, it is just as important to teach students how to learn as it is to teach what to learn; consequently, I advocate a step by step teaching method that allows the student to focus on what they do know, rather than what they do not know. As the student begins to understand each step, they become able to develop the required problem solving skills. After twelve semesters of college and a wide variety of courses, my college experience has left me with quite the education and still more to come. I am a Senior attending the University of Central Oklahoma pursuing a bachelor in Applied Computer Science. I have taken such a wide variety of courses in the previous six years that I have completed the major requirements for a bachelor degree in General Studies as well. This degree also stipulates I earn a minor, which I have completed in the area of Mathematics. My particular skills are in the areas of Math, Computers, and Life Science.
