I have experienced various types of teaching styles while in school. I have learned a long the way every student is different and learns in a different way. In high school and all even through college math had always been my hardest subject. My second year in college I had a math professor that had a different approach to teaching math and for the first time in my life I finally understood math! Finding the right teaching approach is the key to success!
I hold a bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I majored in Elementary Education for two years before I switched majors. I have worn many hats and done many things that all apply to the classroom and teaching young people. I believe that education is the key to life and living. But a person has to believe they can do it first and I believe everyone can learn and should be given the opportunity
I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear. I have over 30 years of diverse accounting experience. Over this time I have been responsible for the timely preparation of financial statements, tax returns, bank reconciliations, and budgets. A Little Bit About Me...

I understand that any child can run into problems with schoolwork. I try to find out why the child is having a problem before trying to help them. Did he miss something and fall behind? Is she simply bored with the subject? The approach I take with the child depends on the answers to these questions. I feel it is important for the learner to understand that there is a reason for making the effort to learn each subject. In math, I like to assign the numbers and equations to subjects the learner likes, such as pizza, sports or music, for example. I also find it is beneficial to make references to the different careers one might use the knowledge learned in the child's classes.

I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher. This teaching style results in a classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable responding to my questions and asking for further clarification about complex topics. Many students have told me that my teaching style is refreshing and they feel comfortable in class.
With my numerous experiences in education, I think I could be a great asset in helping students become more knowledgeable. I have worked as a Tutor, Assistant Teacher, and did a short placement as an Interim Teacher. I can easily adjust to changing environments that will best suit the student’s potential. I was a Tutor in an after school program, and was an Assistant Teacher in a Special Education classroom. I finished an Interim Teaching placement in a middle school A.P. English classroom.
