Chinese, Guitar, History Tutor in Bay Area Seeks Students

Mandarin Chinese - I use Total Physical Response Teaching (TPRS) when teaching elementary aged novice learners, which teaches Chinese as well as American Sign Language. History - I teach history using the many multi-media databases that I subscribe to each month. Musical instruments - patience and hands on. I ask the student what song they want to learn and start learning the first lesson.
Through my educational studies and life experiences I have gained a firm grasp and appreciation for Mandarin Chinese and Chinese culture. My tutoring goal is to work myself out of my job. In other words, I am trying to help each student learn the subject so that he or she will succeed in the future with less outside help. Initially, I ask the student to review what he has learned and what he feels is needed. Then I develop a plan that coordinates with his class curriculum. I try to interest each student in history. I realize that many students only want a grade (I was in high school once) and an aspiring computer engineer or doctor may not have a passion for history.
